Model United Nations (MUN) is a competitive simulation of the United Nations that unites highschool and university students alike in international events around the globe.
MUN offers students an opportunity to learn about the different councils and the structure of the UN as well as to improve their skills in debating, leading, team management, and public speaking. Students from different cultures and backgrounds are connected in discussing problems and suggesting resolutions in a way that draws upon their experience and expertise in multiple disciplines. In this sense, MUN also serves as an opportunity for cultural exchange and enriching networking experiences.
With the Amsterdam International Model United Nations (AIMUN) association we strive to encourage and aid the AUC community in participating in MUN conferences. AIMUN emerged as a student association bringing together motivated students from international backgrounds. We organise MUN training sessions, workshops on MUN related topics and collaborate with other associations to provide you with speaking and debating skills that you can use to succeed during MUN conferences.
We gather students who want to participate in MUN conferences in the Netherlands and abroad. We give you the opportunity to take part in an enriching trip where you can meet and bond with new people. AIMUN is committed to organizing fun social events on campus such as mini MUNs, climate debates, workshops. On top of that we also collaborate with other committees and commissions such as PubQuiz, AUCMUN, SUSCOM and more! As this year is a little bit special, we are doing our best to still organize exciting events while respecting the regulations. This means that for now, most of our events will be online. We are hoping that the following semester will finally allow us to travel abroad to join in person MUN conferences.
