Let’s face it… It’s fucking cold. At this point, the only thing that’s gonna warm you up again is some sweet music, a lotta sweet people and a little wiggle at Dormsessions. Luckily we’ve got one of our spiciest line-ups yet – all just a couple of Tuesdays away! Stay strong amigos, look what awaits you:
First up are Jack Cookson & Calvin Thomas. These two Brits are coming all the way from the UK to create some gezzelig vibes with their cozy and spontaneous live show that has reportedly brought past audiences to tears – of all different kinds. Jack Cookson’s distinct style of melodic hooks and intricate finger work reflects his influences from blues, folk and punk. He’s quite a big one too – a BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award Nominee of 2016 to be precise. Playing with him is Calvin Thomas, who’s classic and moody folk echoes the salty shores of his seaside home in Plymouth. Get here early to grab a seat for this rare collaboration of two original voices.
Following a string of shows around Holland this month, Goodnight Moonlight will join us as our second act of the night. Lovers of shoegaze and dreampop will dig their upbeat and optimistic reinterpretations of lo-fi that revolve around escaping ‘the dullness of daily life’. (I’m sure we could all use some of that) The four-piece from Rotterdam, fronted by Jasper Boorgaard, have supported the likes of TOPS and Sunflower Bean, and appeared in quite some festivals around Holland. Don’t miss this opportunity to inject a little buoyancy into your long winter’s day.
And to (loudly) finish it all off we have Yasmine. These guys bring ‘poppy songs that are played too hard.’ Still in the momentum of releasing their first single and debut EP, this elusive trio are sure to bring some well-deserved heat. Their catchy, grungy sound will be looping around your heads for months to come.
Doors open at 20:00
Location: Common room of the middle building, 3rd floor. (AUC dorms in Science Park)
The event is – as always – free, but remember to bring cash for beers and artist merch/donations
See you there!
