27September7:00 pm10:30 pmIn-Dorm Screening: On Pedagogy

Event Details

Join us on Tuesday the 23rd of September at 19:00 for our first Screening of the Semester! For this months theme we have chosen “Pedagogy” which we hope will motivate you to engage critically with your own learning process and university environment.

As an introduction we will screen Harun Farocki’s Inextinguishable Fire (1969), a short propaganda film highlighting the complicity of the chemical industry in the Vietnam war and subsequently Mike Nichols’ The Graduate (1967), a film about a fresh college graduate who gets himself caught up in a relationship with an older woman.

In this screening event we will be showing films which in one way or another highlight and complicate pedagogy in its institutionalised forms and its connection to social life, politics and culture outside of the classroom. Alongside having the university or knowledge production at the forefront of these films content, both films show – we would suggest – how the pedagogical is imbued in the medium of film itself.

We invite you to come and discuss the films with us after the screening. We will be serving popcorn as well as soft drinks.
